A teenage girl was allegedly brutally beaten by her 'boyfriend' before he killed her and stuffed her inside a barrel.
Zlatko Sikorsky, 34, has been charged with the murder of Larissa Beilby, 16, and will appear in court in Australia today.
He was also charged with misconduct with a corspe.
Sikorsky was cornered by police last week following a 28-hour siege where he holed himself up in a flat and threatened to shoot if officers came near him.
The Courier-Mail reported that Sikorsky's lawyer Brendan Ryan said his client is innocent.
He said: "The evidence will no doubt support a death through misadventure."
Sikorsky is now refusing to speak to police following his arrrest.
Police launched a hunt for him after the decomposing remains believed to be those of Larissa were found in a vehicle.
A woman claims she saw a “dead arm” sticking out of a blue barrel in the back of a stolen utility truck when a man thought to be Sikorsky pointed a shotgun at her.
Larissa was staying at a shelter for homeless youths after escaping her former violent boyfriend, and was allegedly in a relationship with Sikorsky, who is twice her age and is wanted for parole violations.
Reports have claimed Larissa and Sikorsky were in a relationship, but police have only said they were "associated".
She had told friends she was worried he would find out that she was 16, the Courier-Mail reported.
Detectives believe a network of criminals could have been helping him hide.
A man thought to be Sikorsky fled a home in Buccan, in Logan, when it was visited by police looking for the teen.
A woman who lives at a gated complex in nearby Stapylton claimed to AAP that a man, believed to be Sikorsky, pointed a shotgun at her and offered her money to let him inside the estate.
The woman claims she saw a "dead arm" sticking out of a blue barrel on the ute's tray.
She said: “There was a blue barrel with, all I’ve seen is an arm flapping out, it was a little bit scary. I just seen [sic] an arm, a dead arm.”
With a gun pointed at them, the woman and her partner opened the gate and let the man inside the complex where the ute was abandoned.
Police arrested Sikorsky after he finally gave himself up on Saturday.
Acting Detective Superintendent White said: "Our thoughts are very much with Miss Beilby's family as they come to terms with and mourn her death."
A 40-year-old woman and 38-year-old Joseph Geiger from Alexandra Headland have been charged with accessory after the fact to murder.
In 2016, Sikorsky was jailed for a maximum of five years for deprivation of liberty, armed robbery and four counts of extortion.
He was released in January 2017 but later breached his parole, with a warrant being issued in march.
